“@dsandhaus: My cousin just pointed out that the music in Rick Perry’s new anti-gay ad is by gay American composer Aaron Copland. Amazing.”

Rant Challenge: DAY 1 - “Love”
“Six Years five months
That’s how long we’ve been havin’ this thing
We’ve got every moment hasn’t been perfect
But still when it’s perfect it feels
Like we’re the only two people who have somethin’ real”-Faith Evans, Tru Love, The First Lady (2005)
Love is the most simplisticly difficult thing humans do… or lack. Depends on the person or people you are talking about. I’m gonna start right off the bat and declare:
I am a hopeless romantic in disguise.
Or at least I was in disguise, until I said that. I have a little too much in common with Charlotte, feeling like when it all comes crashing down real love can conquer all. Sometimes I feel more like the human equivalent to Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in a little bit of “love for the night” too… it may help me get by, but that’s not what truly fills me. Love has been a very tricky issue with me, and only got worse when I discovered that I couldn’t hide that fact that I like men, much rather greatly prefer them. This will continue to be a battle as I challenge myself with a lifestyle that demands the spotlight and “falling” for men who just
aren’t readydon’t want any light on them. I would like a public relationship similar to Ellen & Portia or NPH and his husband (as it seems it will go). As far as what it would be like on the inside, something new and different. Able to handle this lifestyle I’m after while respecting and participating in the lifestyle they choose to live. I feel like with love, I have no boundries. White, black, fat, diseased, deaf, with two other people… I just don’t care. I know what this love feels like, and I’m sure that when it’s meant to be that way, I’ll feel it again… and again… and again. Because as it seems… as I believe (at this moment in my life anyway) nothing is consciously permanent. Love, just like hate, jealousy, happiness, and whatever other emotion… is something that can be created and destroyed in our minds.Does unconditional love exist? I haven’t experienced one, and although I’m just getting on myself… I am moving on… so is there such a thing? I thought maybe I felt that for someone, and it was “unconditional” the book definition. But it was also personally damaging. Is there a way for love to be unconditional but not personally damaging?

NOH8: Why I Posed

It’s a long, hard, dark, road out of fear but I found my way out. I am part of the light now, and everyone who isn’t there deserves to know that you will find your way out. I got lost in the fear of a secret and loveless relationship, dragging me to become insecure and scared in a crucial time in my “coming out” experience. It took the unconditional love of my best friends & colleagues Jet Phynx and Brawdway to help me understand that in this life, we have to stand tall and fight for what we believe in so that we become Who We Really Are. With that continuous message for nearly a year, I am finally able to say that I know Who I Really Am. The people who really love you will always be there, whether you’re gay or straight. They will be a Warrior with you on your front lines.
If you knew that if you could be Who You Really Are; and it would create happiness, allow for greater success, and expose those who truly love you… would you? I’m telling you that it does. We need to support one another with this cause and show to those who need the light, that we stand as Warriors united against H8.
